About the Author
Jody L. Maanum has taught in both the general and special education settings for 13 years, working diligently to implement best practice techniques and differentiated strategies to meet the individual needs of all students. Maanum is currently the literacy coach and Response to Intervention training specialist for the Midwest Special Education Cooperative in West Central Minnesota. She has been instrumental in promoting early literacy achievement in all children and fully implementing the RTI model in the nine school districts within the cooperative in which she works. She received her bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from Concordia College and obtained a master of science degree in special education from the University of Minnesota, Moorhead.

NO PAGE NUMBERS!!!

IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!! I AM READING THIS BOOK FOR MY GRADUATE DEGREE, GUESS WHAT? I HAVE PAGES ASSIGNED TO READ AND I DO NOT KNOW WHERE TO FIND THEM!! I AM SO UPSET RIGHT NOW. I REALLY WANT MY MONEY BACK. THIS IS USELESS FOR ME.

Great Resource for Teachers

This book is a great resource for general educators. It may not be a book that you read cover to cover and refer to all the time, but it is a book you will be thankful to have when you have a student in your class who you are striving to better understand and teach. About the first half of the book describes the special education disability categories, this section is very informative. The book then discusses the special education process, then continues on to provide strategies and techniques for teachers to better meet the needs of all students. The section that I found the most beneficial was the section titled "Access to the General Education Curriculum: Accommodations, Modifications, Strategies, and Assistive Technology". This section challenged me to examine my own teaching practices and future classroom setup. It made me think I will have to ask myself as a teacher: Am I maximizing the available resource that are to best serve my students? What can I do to make my classroom a learning environment that is conducive to all students' learning?

I would recommend this book to teachers. It is a resource that can help you better understand your students with special needs, as well as provide you with resources and ideas to maximize your students' learning potential.

Brilliant information!

I absolutely love this book! I am a secondary science educator candidate and can refer to this book for instructional strategies to help my students reach the learning goal in a manner that is appropriate for their disability. I highly recommend this book to any educator!!! I will most definitely have this book in my classroom for reference!
