Review
“This pioneering book breaks new ground in an area traditionally considered too complex by school staff." (Neil MacNeill, Principal 2009-12-14)

"Principals are the key contacts for legal questions in their schools. Principals can use this book for professional development opportunities for staff, and school districts can use the book for training administrators.” (Darryl Williams, Principal 2009-12-14)

"Principals Teaching the Law will really help school law professors, too.  The book offers great class activities, and is specifically designed to teach school law to teachers. I do hope that the principal associations recommend this book to their members. As a building principal for 18 years – this book covers the things you need to know as a principal and teacher." (Robert J. Safransky, Ph.D., Adjunct Professor 2010-11-30)

“It is a fantastic book…easy to read, well-written, and easy to use.” (H. Jake Eberwein III, Superintendent 2011-03-30)

“All educators have had or will have experience with the legal aspects of the profession. This book not only provides immediate information and examples, it also leads the reader to additional support and research.” (Cathy Patterson, Former Assistant Principal 2009-12-14)

Practical and engaging.
By Janet Rumple
Principals Teaching the Law (Schimmel, Eckes, Militello; 2010) is an ideal school law text. I use it in the courses I teach to prepare future school administrators and counselors. Not only is it full of engaging lessons that link me to real-life current events occurring in schools, but also the book serves as a practical resource for my students once they graduate from our program. The authors accurately summarize the law in very clear terms. Plus, the book is extremely user-friendly and well-organized. I highly recommend that administrators as well as educators read this valuable text.

Special Education Counts!
By David Riddle
I liked the book over al except for two things: the way that Special Education And ELL Law is treated. To this author it seems as if both subjects are an afterthought, even thought these two areas of the law are currently the most heavily legislated. We need more guidance about how to move forward and more of an idea of what has come before IDEA and Section 504.
